Life is a Series of Tiny Miracles
Art, like generosity, begins small — and travels far.
Since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of having wings.
I grew up on the edge of the forest, close to the sea. Birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and fairies were my daily companions on long, magical adventures. And as I grew older, that dream of flying transformed — I longed to travel across oceans, to explore the rich diversity of nature and human culture.
In my twenties, that dream took flight.
Traveling awakened my love for writing, visual arts, and music. I still remember sitting by the fire in the Sacred Valley of Peru, listening to the river rushing by, stars sparkling in the open sky. That night, after seeing a falling star, I had a vision — a dream where art, healing, and culture come together.
That vision found its expression in a painting Wholeness, created during my artist residency in Urubamba, Peru. It was my largest painting so far — and after completing it, I found it hard to begin something new.
For a while, I focused on writing and music. Until one midsummer day, sitting quietly in the garden, a simple and sweet insight arrived: start small.
As I sat watching a butterfly — black with orange wings — land beside me, I felt a wave of inspiration return. When she finally flew away, I knew exactly what to do.
I cut sheets of natural French linen paper, recently found in a local art shop, into the shape of bookmarks. That summer, I began painting a series of tiny winged messengers: butterflies, a robin singing nearby, a dragonfly landing on my hand, and two seagulls soaring overhead as I lay on the grass.
I remembered to focus on the process. To return to what fills my life with joy and wonder. And now, every time I hold one of these bookmarkers, I’m reminded of that simple, childlike joy — the wonder that is always here, in the present moment.
Earlier this year, I visited a local print shop to create art prints of these miniature paintings. And so the Nature of Generosity collection was born.
At first, I gifted these bookmarkers to family, friends, and colleagues. Now, they are ready to travel further — to fly across the sky and find their way to new places, hands, and hearts.
Whether you’re looking for a gift for yourself or someone you love, every piece from Creative Fire is wrapped with care — an invitation to practice the art of giving and receiving.
In the coming Wisdom Letters, I’ll share more about my career change and the story behind Creative Fire. So stay tuned!
